Travelling to Adelaide

All visitors to Adelaide must have a valid Australian visa. For visa information, please refer to the Australian Immigration website.

When you register for the ADS 2025 and make payment, you will automatically be sent an email with a visa welcome letter to support your visa application.

Please ensure your visa has been lodged at least 2 months before departure from your point of origin.

Things to do before you travel to Adelaide

  • Check that your passport is valid. Check its expiry date to ensure it meets the rules for acceptable travel documents.

  • Check what you can and can’t bring into Australia.
Visit prohibited goods to find out more.

  • Check that you have an outward/return ticket. Visitors to Australia must have one.

Entering Australia – pre-arrival preparation

  • Before entering Australia, you will complete an Incoming Passenger Card (IPC) either during your flight or upon arrival at the terminal. This allows the Australian Border Force monitor customs and immigration and prevent the entry of prohibited goods.

  • Alternatively, while the paper IPC is currently the standard, there is a pilot program for a digital alternative called the Australian Travel Declaration (ATD), which can be completed through the Qantas app up to 72 hours before your flight.
